Buzzing Facts

Wildflowers
Plant bee-friendly flowers in your garden so bees can collect nectar and pollen.
Instead of spraying weeds with chemicals in your yard, pull them by hand or let the dandelions grow, bees love them!
Water Source
Provide clean water for pollinators with a shallow dish, bowl, or birdbath with half submerged stones for perches. Bees need a surface to land and launch from. Bees can drown if they cannot fly off from the water.

Why They Swarm
A "Swarm" is when a portion of the hive worker bees and a queen leave the main hive and are looking for a new home. Swarms usually happen in late spring or early summer. They do not usually attack people, but you should be cautious approaching a swarm. If you see a swarm, contact a local beekeeper, he/she will know what to do!
Community
Support land conservation in your community by helping to create and maintain gardens and green spaces for pollinators.

Pesticides
Apply pesticides at night when honeybees are in the hive. Honeybees are active during daylight hours and above 40°F.
Choose liquid products instead of powdered. Use the least toxic products.
